Teaching how to have relationships at school?
Actually, I think it's about time. More and more things these days are being taken away from parents and handed to teachers to educate kids about. From sex education to financial management. While some might consider it a sad state of affairs, it is an unfortunate fact. If kids are not learning it at school, than there is a good chance they aren't learning it at all. With often both parents working, homework, extracurricular activities, etc, kids rarely have time for their parents to pass anything on to them. And in this world where kids can know more than their parents simply by looking things up on the internet, even if their parents do try pass on some wisdom, it's not likely to get through.
So when we read about a class in Ohio about having healthy relationships we thought it was appropriate. Not only does it get kids to sit down and learn from years of collected wisdom from their seniours, but it actually gives the opportunity for kids to open a dialogue with their parents about the topic. Once upon a time we did not have schools, so kids learnt everything from their parents. Now when school takes up such a large portion of students times, I think it's only fair that they get taught some life skills as well as achademics.
